A true Elvis experience. Relive the fantasy as Starrlyte Promotions presents Jimmy W. Johnson in the “Spirit of Elvis.”“Elvis never left the building like we thought; you may not be able to see him at the moment… but if you’re quiet, long enough… you can still hear him singing.” The Legend Lives On!
Jimmy W. Johnson started singing at an early age in his home church in Eastern North Carolina. As a teenager, his vocal abilities and uncanny resemblance to Elvis gained him fame around Memphis. He began touring the Southeastern United States with several well-known beach bands. While performing, he met Claude Bailey, manager for Jackie Wilson. Mr. Bailey immediately recognized the similarities and charisma of the “King of Rock-n-Roll,” thus began Jimmy W.’s career.
In 1990, his recording, “Tying Yellow Ribbons Round the USA” became the number one song played on Armed Forces Radio Network during Operation Desert Storm. The recording earned him recognition from the pentagon.
Jimmy has performed for and been endorsed by Sam Phillips, founder of Sun Records and the man who discovered Elvis Presley himself. Sam once said to Jimmy, “The only difference in you and Elvis is that Elvis came first.
Jimmy W. is probably best known for his national hit, “The Tomahawk Chop,” which he performed live on ESPN during the 1992 World Series. This celebration of the Atlanta Braves was seen by more than 80 million viewers. Jimmy W. has performed throughout the Southeast, Atlantic City, Las Vegas and Carnival Cruise Lines.
The “Spirit of Elvis ” show is endorsed by the “Elvis Fans Forever” Fan Club, Linda Lee, President. This fan club is officially authorized by Elvis Presley Enterprises, Memphis, Tenn. We invite you to be a part of the show as Jimmy W. Johnson highlights a ‘A Special Time’ in the Life and Music of the “King of Rock-n-Roll.”
